Special request: How would i write this in japanese?

Dear Ayako,

There are no words from which I can say the importance you have in my life, it seems like everything has faded and there is no color in the world for me. My Love, I know we have been through very hard times and I accept that it was all was my fault but I also apologize to you and you also know that I love you very, very much and can\’t live without you. So, Ayako, please accept my apology and come back to me.

I love you very, very much,
Ayako

and this

Dear Ayako,

I believe in my heart and soul that we were meant to be with one another. I think about you everyday and night. When I am with you you light up my life. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I wish upon a star for you to return back by my side. The love that I hold for you in my soul is greater than an ocean or the sky above. Please forgive me for all the hurt that I have caused you. Please, I beg of you to forgive me and return back by my side like the way that it was meant to be. I love you, and I always will until the day that I die. Hopefully, when that day comes, I will still have you by my side and you will be the last angel face that I see. I will be able to hold you in my arms one last time, and tell you how much I love you and how much you really mean to me. I love you!!

Love Always,

Your Julian

Is being “wagamama” good or bad?

Ever since I was a kid, my mom kept telling me not to be so Wagamama (わがまま). As recent as last week, I was talking to her on the phone and yet again she used that word on me.

So I wonder, is being wagamama so bad?

First of all, lets see what “wagamama” actually means.

A quick internet search brought me to this page

http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/leaf/jn2/237719/m0u/%E3%82%8F%E3%81%8C%E3%81%BE%E3%81%BE/

according to it, wagamama is 自分の思いどおりに振る舞うこと。また、そのさま。気まま。ほしいまま。自分勝手。

basically it means someone who wants to do whatever he/she wants. Someone who acts the way he/she feels like. (Can also be used to describe someone who is selfish).

so am I a “wagamama” guy?

I have a certain “vision” to things that I care about. Some people may think “why don’t you just compromise” but that is just the way I am. I like things to be done in certain ways and I want to live the way I want to live.

I am not sure if because of this people tend to think I have high (or weird) standard and I complain too much. I guess I should take actions and do something about the things I don’t like instead of just keep complaining but that is another story.

Like the song sang by Lenny Kravitz “Are you gonna go my way” !!

Japanese evolution in real time

I recently had a phone conversation with someone who had been living outside Japan for quite sometime and recently moved back to Japan.
We were talking about the Japanese999 website and the topic moved on to about how Japanese is like recently. Apparently there are so many words that if no body explains to me how they are used, I would probably not be able to figure it out by myself.

Here are some of the words that I found particularly interesting.

  • アラサー (arasaa) = short for around 30 years old
  • アラフォー (arafoo) = short for around 40 years old

Apparently they are used to talk about age.
For example,
私もうアラサーだから、そろそろ結婚しないと。
(I am around 30 so got to get married.)

  • レス下さい (resu kudasai) = Please reply to me

It is a short for レスポンスください(resuponsu kudasai) ”give me a response”

by the way, if you change that to “レズ下さい” it becomes something completely different…. :)

スto ズ….. only one character, but something completely different.

what a Japanese evolution in real time

How interesting languages can be

I found this video clip on youtube by accident….. (I was looking for other clips that my friend told me to watch.)

If you happen to know enough Japanese to understand the subtitle, this is pretty funny.
